Municipal Cycle Fleets and Hire Schemes

A greater number of towns and cities are discovering the social benefits of running bicycle hire schemes in urban areas. Encouraging commuters and tourists to travel by bicycle helps to free-up the roads, reducing traffic noise and congestion and improve the overall urban environment. It’s also great for the people hiring to experience the benefits of commuting by bicycle, or for getting around to see historic sites with fun and ease.

Towns and cities are currently using Pashley Carrier cycles for:

  • Public Bicycle hire in urban centres
  • Transport for cycle-scheme bike mechanics
  • Cycle loan to the unemployed to help them get back to work

Cycles for Cycle Schemes:

London Hire Bike

The next generation Santander London Cycle, designed and manufactured by Pashley. The new cycles offer riders improved handling, safety and comfort, with a new gel saddle, lower frame, tyres with puncture prevention, new gear hub, improved front and rear Blaze lighting, and bluetooth.

The Courier is the closest in design to a typical diamond frame bicycle in aesthetic, but is designed and built to withstand the rigours of tough everyday use. It also has the option of a name plate that can be adorned with graphics and can be fitted with a sturdy front carrier rack for luggage.

The Pronto, with it’s easy to dismount step-through frame, was originally designed for the Royal Mail, so is a very hardy and capable of withstanding day-in, day-out use. Front carriers and be fitted, as well as added extras such as frame locks and lights.
