Best of luck chaps!

May 29, 2010

Pashley should like to wish Nick Miles, Ian Gamble, Iain Langridge and Malcolm Keegan a safe and pleasant ride (www.angelride.org.uk) in aid of The Lavender Trust, which departed today (29th May) from Islington Green, London. They’ve got a challenging 1100km (700 miles) to cover on their 3 speed Guv’nors before reaching Morzine Avoriaz, France, in eight days time.

They’ve raised an amazing amount of money so far for the Trust. Donations can still be made online at… www.justgiving.com/angelride.

A jolly day indeed!

April 13, 2010

What a marvellous day! The sun was shining, the cucumber sandwiches were aplenty and everyone was looking splendidly dapper. The Tweed Run in London was a great success and the Pashley team thoroughly enjoyed cycling the city streets, top-to-toe in tweed. Many thanks to the organisers and all the marshals for making it such a wonderful event. We’re already looking forward to 2011.

Angel Ride Update

April 13, 2010

As well as enjoying the delights of the Tweed Run on Saturday (above), Nick and Malcolm have been training hard and have recently taken part in The Burgess Hill 71 mile Springtime Classic in West Sussex.

Apparently, they turned a few heads on their Guv’nors and also did pretty well beating a lot of ‘carbon-clad competitors’ and completing the hilly route (including a 20% monster) in a ride time of 4hrs and 45mins.

Ian has also been busy putting his Guv’nor through its paces in the Alps, ascending Avoriaz; a 14km HC alpine climb!

The whole Angel team will be alpine training in full kit on the weekend of the 17th of April. We’ll update with more news and pictures soon.

Tip-Top Tailors & The Tweed Run

April 8, 2010

The London Tweed Run 2010 will be taking place this Saturday the 10th of April and amongst this years participants will be Paul from H Huntsman & Sons who will be jaunting along on his Pashley Deli-bicycle.

Huntsman are Savile Row’s most famous tailors. On Special occasions their Deli-bicycle is used to deliver suits and when it’s not in use, it sits pride-of-place at the front of their shop, next to the famous leather sofa that the Duke of Windsor once fell asleep on.

The Pashley team will be travelling down from Stratford-upon-Avon for the run and are thoroughly looking forward to a jolly days riding with the other ladies and gents!

Four Guv’nors to ride 700 miles!

December 22, 2009

On the 28th May 2010 a unique fundraising event will take place. Four riders will set off from Islington Green in North London and pedal their bicycles 1100km (700 miles) to the French Alpine town of Morzine Avoriaz. They hope to achieve this arduous journey in 9 days.

However! There is a slight twist to the event. They will each be riding a Pashley 3 speed Guv’nor and dressed in replica vintage cycling clothing. It will be reminiscent of a scene from an old Tour De France as they travel down roads, across cobbles and over mountains made famous by the worlds toughest bicycle race.

The Angel Ride will be raising money for the LAVENDER TRUST which benefits young women who become diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The riders will be pedalling in memory of Heidi Beer who lost her life to Breast Cancer at the age of 29. Heidi spent her teenage years in Islington London before moving to Morzine in France, hence the route to be conquered by the Angel Riders.

The team consists of Nick Miles, Ian Gamble, Ian Langridge and Malcolm Keegan. They have set up a website where they hope you will enjoy following their training progress and be able to support the Angel Ride… www.angelride.org.uk

A Festive View

December 19, 2009

The Pashley Team have been enjoying this festive view opposite the Pashley factory in Stratford-upon-Avon. It has been created by a local father and daughter team for the enjoyment of the community with people driving from miles around to see the display. Donations are being collected for The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. If you are local to the area, pop-along for some festive spirit and to donate to a very worthy cause.

Pashley returns to the Club

October 15, 2009

Pashley_Clubman_Prototype

Pashley is re-introducing its Clubman range after 75 years. Based on the classical elements of its 1930s predecessor, today’s Pashley Clubman offers the same pure riding experience.

Built in Pashley’s factory in Stratford-upon-Avon, Clubman frames, in 20″, 22″ and 24″, are constructed traditionally with Reynolds 531 butted steel tubes brazed into lugs.  Frame geometries are unashamedly classic and comfortable, allowing them to be fully at ease with all riding styles, from the energetic to the leisurely.

The ‘urban’ Clubman gives the street rider a simple, reliable bike for everyday use.  The specification offers a choice of minimal maintenance transmissions from Sturmey-Archer: the S3X-3 speed fixed gear, the SRC3-3 speed with coaster brake, or the latest S2C-2 speed kickshift with coaster brake (this hub having the advantages of needing no control cables for brake and gear, so no adjustment is required).  All versions use a maintenance-free Sturmey-Archer drum brake in the front wheel, for effective all-weather braking.

A special-edition ‘urban’ Clubman (shown above) was displayed at the London Cycle Show at Earl’s Court.  This edition is equipped with the S3X-3 speed fixed gear, a classic, beautiful Miche Supertype crankset, and a Brooks Swift with titanium frame.

The ‘country’ Clubman reflects on the era when one bike would be used for many purposes – club cyclists would put mudguards and saddlebags on their bikes to go touring, strip all accessories off for the weekly club time trial, and ride to work in between.  With generous clearances under its centrepull brakes, this Clubman is equipped with the new Sturmey-Archer five speed ‘wide ratio’ gear, giving a typical gear range of 35-90″.  Mudguards will be fitted as standard, as will a Brooks leather saddle.  The frame is fitted with braze-ons for bottles, a pump and a rear carrier.

The Clubman range of models and fittings will be available from Spring 2010.
