Transport for Tradespeople and Artisans

Using a cycle as a means of transport allows you to start a business with a much lower investment cost and to continue to operate it at a considerably lower cost too. Small businesses and the self-employed use Pashley Carrier Cycles as a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to motor vehicles, transporting themselves and the tools of their trade from A to B.

Cycles for Trade Transport:

The Courier is our modern general-purpose load-carrier. Its rigidly mounted front carrier, all weather brakes and puncture resistant tyres contribute to the safe and reliable transportation of you tools/items. The standard front carrier is designed to handle up to 20 kilos in our replaceable plastic tray, or a custom carrier option allows the use of a Eurobox. The Courier can accommodate a rear rack to carry additional load, however it is recommended that the Pronto (see further below) is used for both front and rear as it has an easier step-though mount for the rider.

Want to recapture the nostalgia of the Hovis ad? We still make our traditional delivery bike. If your preference is for a more traditionally styled cycle, then look no further than our Delibike. The iconic wicker basket will carry up to 25 kilos load, and we can arrange sign writing of the frame-mounted plate. Although still traditionally styled and manufactured, the Delibike has the same built-in safety features of our more modern bicycles.

Renowned as the workhorse of the Royal Mail postie, the Pronto will handle up to 40 kilos load with front and rear carriers, and the safety step-thru’ frame design allows easy and safe mount and dismount – very important when fully loaded. Available with front carrier insert and rear panniers or with bulky loads can be accommodated in carriers designed to fit standard Euroboxes.

Pashley's newest Carrier Cycle, the P2, has been developed to accommodate up to 50 kilos of load in lightweight lockable pods. It features a unique rear tripod stand that allows for stable parking and loading, and a longer wheel base with smaller 24" wheels for a lower centre of gravity and improved handling. Other load carrying options are also available (including wicker baskets and insulated boxes).

Euroload Trailer

The Euroload Trailer is compatible with standard Euroboxes (including insulated and lockable designs) and will handle up to 60 kilos weight – but remember, the bicycle towing it must be capable not just of pulling the load, but also of stopping safely.  We always recommend the use of a properly designed and specified workbike to tow a loaded trailer, and the Pronto and Courier are ideal for this use as simple ’tugs’, and can be fitted with a front carrier to increase load space.

Got bigger loads to handle?  The Loadstar can handle up to 200 kilos, with the inherent stability of a tricycle. Although essentially designed as an industrial load-lugger, the Loadstar tricycle sees service transporting all kinds of goods on Britain’s roads.
