On the 28th May 2010 a unique fundraising event will take place. Four riders will set off from Islington Green in North London and pedal their bicycles 1100km (700 miles) to the French Alpine town of Morzine Avoriaz. They hope to achieve this arduous journey in 9 days. However! There is a slight twist to the event. They will each be riding a Pashley 3 speed Guv’nor and dressed in replica vintage cycling clothing. It will be reminiscent of a scene from an old Tour De France as they travel down roads, across cobbles and over mountains made famous by the worlds toughest bicycle race.

The Angel Ride will be raising money for the LAVENDER TRUST which benefits young women who become diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The riders will be pedalling in memory of Heidi Beer who lost her life to Breast Cancer at the age of 29. Heidi spent her teenage years in Islington London before moving to Morzine in France, hence the route to be conquered by the Angel Riders.

The team consists of Nick Miles, Ian Gamble, Ian Langridge and Malcolm Keegan. They have set up a website where they hope you will enjoy following their training progress and be able to support the Angel Ride… www.angelride.org.uk.
