Materials
Heavy weight 22oz waxed canvas sourced from a Scottish factory with 150 years of heritage in waxed fabrics. Devon oak bark tanned full-grain bridle leather, hand-finished with natural oils and waxes using a traditional tanning process that takes over a year. Solid brass buckles and hand hammered copper rivets.
Care
The waxed canvas can be re-proofed periodically to maintain its weather resistance using a wax dressing. The bridle leather will naturally develop a deep, rich patina with age and use – requiring nothing more than an occasional wipe with a damp cloth. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
British Craftsmanship
Made in Wales
The Porteur Bag is hand-crafted by Rural Kind in their workshop housed in an old primary school in the hills of rural Wales. Each bag is cut, riveted, and stitched by hand using traditional techniques passed down through generations of makers. In keeping with Pashley's guiding principles, there is a great emphasis on British design and manufacture, with carefully sourced materials including waxed canvas from a 150-year-old Scottish mill and bridle leather from a centuries-old Devon tannery.
Meet the Maker
Rural Kind
Founded by Mike Williams, Rural Kind creates simple, durable everyday goods in the Welsh countryside. Working from a converted schoolhouse, Mike hand-makes each bag with an attention to detail and quality that ensures every piece will last for years. The ethos is simple: make well, built to last, using the finest materials and time-honoured construction methods. The materials tell their own story. The heavyweight waxed canvas gains character with use – creasing, scuffing, and marking beautifully over time. The oak bark tanned bridle leather darkens and enriches, developing a patina unique to each owner's journey.
